CATHEDRAL PINES: ALEX AND COZETTE

The Lodge at Cathedral Pines in Colorado Springs was a fantastic destination wedding. It was a destination for us that is. Alex and Cozette waited a long time to finally find each other - Alex was the last in his friend group to get hitched earning him the name “The Last of the Mohicans”. They were a delight to work with both leading up to the wedding and all through the chaotic, fun-filled day.

Marilyn and I flew in that morning and jammed to The Broadmoor Suites where the ladies were getting ready. Colorado Springs weather was absolutely perfect with its warm, dry heat we are not used to here in Missouri. The couple’s deep faith and passionate love for each other was evident during the ceremony, portraits, and reception. The families were a joy and much of the day was just perfect. The sound guy had a rough go trying to keep everything on point, but there were almost no hiccups so hurrah for no sound disasters. The food was great and the beer flowed like wine. All-in-all it was an incredible day filled with joy and laughter.

Alex particularly had an innate skill to make me laugh. I think we may have been kindred comedy-brothers at some point in a distance dimension -whatever that means. His jokes were subtle, but so packed with pungent silliness that I almost rolled over laughing several times. Their parents were incredibly gracious and warm. I can’t say too many great things about this day and hopefully the pictures reflect how gorgeous it all turned out. We really wanted to capture their love, silliness, and passion. I think if I were to change one thing about this wedding, it would have been to push more for a first look. If you are a bride or groom reading this, my advice - do a first look. The day is always more chaotic with no first-look and even though they stuck with the old tradition, we managed to capture some gorgeous bridal portraits after the ceremony.

Marilyn and I had a blast. We got to do a little sight seeing that week and headed back to the Missouri grind. It was a great destination wedding for us and we would love to do more in the future.
